Mt. Diablo landscape, sunset.

Here's a landscape painting of the view looking down from Mt. Diablo around sunset (done in oils on linen, 24"x36"). I love painting the late afternoon light. The color and raking angle makes everything look dramatic.

In this painting (and in a few others done at around the same time) I was experimenting with an almost pastel-like brushstroke, building up the surface incrementally with lots and lots of little marks. If you enlarge the painting, all of those little brushstrokes will be pretty visible.
