Since I like to work with glazes and scumbling, my paintings build up lots of layers. The underlying layers have to be completely dry before you paint over them, otherwise the painting won't last. Layers will crack and flake off.
So I tend to switch off between a few different pieces at the same time, giving one a chance to dry while I work on the other.
This one still needs some work, too. I'm pretty happy with the background, but the foreground tree is still too mushy and undefined. It's finishing up, though, and I'm pretty sure that it's going to come together nicely. It's a landscape up on Shell Ridge, on the foothills of Mt. Diablo.
