Grisaille study, nude model

Here's another grisaille study of a nude model, along with this one and this one, and a couple others scattered across the blog.

It's done in oils on an 18" by 12" panel (of linen glued to birch plywood). It's a pretty fast piece, done in about an hour and half or so, and has that loose vitality that comes from brevity.

As I recall, the model was quite a bit more attractive than this rendering of her would suggest. I'm regrettably not particularly good at flattery (and believe me, that is one of the core skills of a successful portrait artist!)
