Drawing of girl on folding chair

Here's another drawing from the nude, done in chalk and charcoal on toned paper.

When I draw the model, I like to find some way to position and frame her in space, so that she's not just floating, isolated in white. I try and ground her, and place her in a context.

So the folding chair that she's sitting on comes in really handy! Also, strangely enough, the chair makes it a lot easier to draw her. It provides a useful scaffolding for her negative shapes. Lot of straight lines and simple, blocky forms. Once those are drawn correctly, the shape of her body follows fairly naturally.
