High houses

Here are a few more images of another sculpture in the same series as this one.

I'm sure that my fascination with these structures (going from quite simple to increasingly baroque, as later posts will show) stems from having art directed SimCity. For years, working on SimCity, I was just consumed with the aesthetics of buildings and what they can be made to represent. These pieces are the lingering echo from that obsession; simplified, abstracted and made more personal.

They're built in Maya and rendered in Mental Ray. At some point I'll get around to printing them out in ceramics or bronze.
