Douglas Andelin

My friend Doug Andelin is going to be showing his paintings for Marin Open Studios on May 9th & 10th. Doug's a seriously good painter, one of the best that I know. If you're in the San Francisco Bay Area you should check him out.



Doug paints from the model, and does plein air landscapes, often in his native Marin county just north of San Francisco.

Doug's paintings are solidly drawn and rendered, but it's his rich paint surface that really stands out. The paint is tactile, expressive and textured.

There's a quality to Doug's work that highlights what painting can do and photography can't. He's not just rendering an image of the scene, he's understanding it and expressing that understanding in paint.
