Adam Savage (with a blue star)

Years ago, when we were both much younger and when he was still doing movie special effects (before Mythbusters) my friend Adam Savage posed for this portrait. And it was OK, but clearly that great expanse of forehead cried out for a bright blue star. It was only after having kids and re-reading Dr. Seuss that I remembered the Sneetches, that had no doubt lodged themselves deep in my unconscious...

  3. That is creepy and amazing. He needs to wear a blue star every day.

  4. It's amasing how much younger he's become since starting Mythbusters!

  5. This is still how he dresses every Friday night for the opera: blue star, rope necklace, Manson shirt.

  7. That's funny - he does look much older back then! Weird!

Lovely blue star - I can see how the blank canvas would have been calling to you! ;)

  9. Thanks! Yeah, I'm not known for flattering portraits; Adam did come out looking a bit more haggard than he really was at, what 26? But I figure that the blue star makes up for it. Really a nice blue star would flatter anybody.

And hadn't read Thieves world, but had read Seuss, so I'm sure that they unconscious inspiration was the Star Bellied Sneetch.
